Salt therapy is a treatment that involves breathing in the salty air. It’s also known as halotherapy, which comes from the Greek word for salt: “halo.” During this process, pharmaceutical-grade salt is aerosolized into a treatment room, creating a microclimate. In other words, this room may have different moisture and heat levels to a neighboring room.

The origins of halotherapy have been dated way back to medieval times, but scientists and researchers have only recently started looking into its potential benefits. There are two main methods of practicing halotherapy: dry and wet. Dry salt therapy takes place in a human-made salt “cave,” while wet halotherapy may take the place of saltwater flotation tanks, drinking, gargling, or bathing in salty water, and nasal irrigation.


What are the benefits of salt therapy?

Halotherapy may provide the following benefits:

  1. Improves skin problems like eczema, dermatitis, acne, and psoriasis by regulating the skin’s pH and drawing out excess oil.
